The named incumbents are IBM/HashiCorp, AWS, Pulumi and Snyk — funded giants selling into enterprise security and compliance procurement, and the stated gaps (SOC2/HIPAA/PCI playbooks, automated remediation, post-migration monitoring with rollback) are exactly the heavy, audited, deep-integration work a solo founder cannot ship or sell quickly.

The case against this verdict

MCP is genuinely new and the incumbents listed have nothing shipped for it — a solo dev who publishes a free open-source MCP server scanner (tool-poisoning, prompt-injection, over-broad OAuth scopes, secret exfiltration) could own the category vocabulary before anyone funded arrives, exactly the Plausible/Snyk-CLI playbook. The evidence set here looks mis-scoped to cloud migration rather than MCP, so the empty channels may reflect a bad query rather than a dead market.
