We said MAYBE on August 10, 2026. Not settled — due August 10, 2027.
Read this with the caveat. We tested the engine that produced this verdict against 292 launches whose outcomes we already knew, and could not show it predicted which survived. Some of its data sources were also dead at the time of scoring. The verdict stays up, dated and unedited, because a record you can quietly revise is not a record — but it is worth less than it looked when it was written.
Demand is genuine and multi-channel: paying competitors, active HN launches, real Reddit interest, and growing keywords. The market is winnable in principle via a developer-friendly, transparently-priced, observability-first wedge, but the security engineering is heavy and one incumbent is funded, so this is a moderate-difficulty play rather than an easy weekend win.
All three channels agree: real social traction, active HN launches, growing commercial keywords, and four competitors already monetizing. This is proven, current demand.
Clear wedges exist (transparent pricing, local-first, observability dashboard) and the market is developer-reachable organically, but the core sandboxing/security engineering is genuinely hard and at least one incumbent (E2B) is venture-funded infrastructure.
Secure, multi-tenant sandbox isolation is exactly the kind of hard, safety-critical engineering where a solo founder can ship something that looks fine but leaks — and a security failure in a sandbox product is fatal to trust. E2B is funded and iterating fast, and 'transparent pricing' is a positioning wedge any incumbent can neutralize in an afternoon, so the defensible moat here is thin relative to the build cost.
What is worth more than this page. The register records what became of 6,266 real launches. No engine has to be right for that to be true.
